The water is smooth as glass. We glide over it at top speed, silently, leaving a streamlined wake. The wind streaks through our hair. This is boating through the mangroves and back bays at sunset.
Cape Romano. On the South End of Marco Island lies a scenic fishing spot and wildlife area. With an open view of the Gulf, Cape Romano is clearly a beautiful place. Here in the photo are some huts over the water, on the most southern point of Romano. Just three hundred feet off this Southern point, in the deep gulf water, is a drop off. It is a good fishing spot. You drop a pole, and within five to ten minutes you have a fish on your pole. People have caught from scalloped hammerheads and blacktips to mackerel and tuna. If you ever find yourself near Naples or Marco Island, rent a boat on a calm day and bring yourself over to Romano to see the wildlife and peaceful scenery.
